I am a BACP Registered Accredited relationship counsellor bringing over twenty years’ experience of counselling couples and individuals.
I offer face-to-face and online therapy for couples and individuals who have concerns about their relationship.
You may have experienced a crisis, an affair perhaps, unmanageable conflict or perhaps there is a feeling that something does not feel right. Talking things through with a couples counsellor can help you get a perspective on your concerns and gain a better understanding of unhelpful patterns in your relationship. Couples counselling can also be helpful if you are wanting to separate. A neutral space to discuss a way forward can be very helpful.
Relationship therapy is also helpful for individuals who have lost a partner due to separation, divorce or bereavement.
I have an Advanced Specialist Fertility Counselling Diploma from the National Fertility Society and am able to offer support and therapeutic counselling for individuals and couples who are experiencing fertility issues or are undergoing fertility treatment.
For those who have undergone fertility treatment which has not been successful, counselling can be helpful to process the painful feelings of disappointment and loss.
I am an accredited Couple Therapy for Depression practitioner, This is a time limited approach to relationship concerns and is helpful for those couples where depression in one or both of the partners is having an impact on the quality of their relationship.
About Me
My early training was with Relate which was an integrated training but predominantly a psychodynamic approach. I have continued to follow my interest in psychodynamic couple therapy studying at an advanced level at the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships(TCCR) in London (now Tavistock Relationships). I was awarded an MA (with merit) in Attachment ,Psychoanalysis and the Couple Relationship from TCCR in February 2010.
I have worked in private practice for over 12 years working with couples and individuals who are experiencing relationship difficulties.
I work according to the BACP Ethical Framework.
I have regular supervision and insurance in place.
How I Work?
I offer longer term work for those couples that wish to explore how past relationships patterns impact on their current relationships.
I am also able to offer shorter term work for couples who require a more focused behavioural approach to their difficulties.
My first meeting with you is a 90 minute initial consultation.
In this first session you will be able to experience my way of working. I will begin by exploring your relationship and the difficulties or concerns you have with a view to offering you some understanding of what might be behind your struggle.
If after the initial meeting you are still unsure about counselling, you will not be under any obligation to commit to further sessions.
Ongoing sessions are of 60 minute duration and are arranged so that we meet on the same day and at the same time each week.
